Abstract In this paper, we propose a general method for solving structural mechanics problems by developing “functional model”. It is implemented defining the required geometrical and physical relationships in their form via analytical numerical functions. For that purpose, special programming language Calcpad used. The obtained data structure processed core engine, which generates computer code, solution. This model can be used calculation of different partial cases, after specifying specific input functions parameters. way, need procedure each separate case eliminated. proposed applied analysis column with variable, arbitrary shaped cross section, accounting initial imperfections, geometric material nonlinearity.
